Dunny 2011 Series releases tomorrow!
Tomorrow is the big day.
Tomorrow you will go to the toy store.
Tomorrow you will wait in line for a shiny new toy.
Tomorrow you will feel excited.
Tomorrow you will open that pretty cardboard box.
Tomorrow you will unwrap that metallic plastic bag.
Tomorrow your heart will stop.
Tomorrow you will cry—or go home happy
Which Dunny will you unwrap tomorrow?
To be honest, I never really unwrap the cute ones–and usually get stuck with the dark and gory Dunnies.
If the previous bit sounded strange or crazy to you–you’ve probably never had the experience of attending a Dunny release party. They happen usually once or twice a year at various toy shops. I’ve been to about three official Dunny release parties–all hosted by Minneapolis based RobotLove, but last December they went out of business, and the official Kidrobot re-seller contract seems to have transferred over to Fifth Element in Minneapolis, but Tomodachi in Roseville, MN is also having a release party tomorrow. They are going to be hosting the event tomorrow, and are providing refreshments and things (according to the Tomodachi facebook event page ).
I have not been to Fifth Element yet, but it should be an interesting release party, according to their facebook event page--the release starts at 6 pm.and thats pretty much all there is to know.
If you haven’t been to a Dunny release party–then you should, even if you’re not in Minnesota–there are alot of cities that host their own release parties–specific locations can be found on Kidrobot.
If you are in the Twin Cities area, go to one of the events mentioned, or go to both and have fun restocking your toy shelf.
From my past experience with them, I can definitely say that the experience is a unique one and a cultural learning experience that should not be missed.
